Therapy for
Chronic Illness

Coping with a chronic illness or pain? Ignored or gaslighted by medical professionals?

Are your relationships with those closest to you struggling? Do you feel that life no longer has purpose or meaning?

If you are overwhelmed by the ever-changing impact chronic conditions can have on your life, therapy can help you to process this, reduce anxiety and help you to move forward with your life, regardless of your health status.

How I
can
help you

I’m a therapist who specialises in working with people living with chronic illnesses, chronic pain or other chronic conditions, but you are the specialist in you!

Together, in therapy we can help you being to cope with the impact of being chronically ill by:

  • Having a space to talk where you are heard, believed and respected – so that you can develop the confidence to set goals and advocate for yourself

  • Examining your needs (both emotional and physical) – so that you can feel assertive in communicating, setting boundaries, and contributing to relationships in a way that feels right for you

  • Explore your goals and desires for life whilst coming to terms with compromises that might need to be made – so that you can still live a life worth meaning whilst living with chronic illness

Living with chronic illness can have a huge effect on your mental health. Just like chronic physical symptoms, ill mental health can look different for everyone. I have helped my clients with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, body image issues, loneliness and much more.

My approach as a therapist

As an integratively trained therapist, I am trained in the modalities of person-centred therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, and psychodynamic therapy.

At times I may incorporate more creative elements to sessions, or introduce things like mindfulness.

However, I recognise the individuality of each client. Therefore, I tailor an individual approach uniquely to each person I work with (different strokes for different folks!).

I pride myself on offering you a compassionate and safe space. I genuinely care about all of my clients and am committed to helping you get where you want to be.

Therapy with me is not a formal, prim thing. I want you to feel comfortable, to be able to laugh as well as cry (if you need to!), and just be yourself. I always aim to offer the correct blend of professionalism and showing up as a real person.
