Therapy for
Chronic Illness

A space where you are

actually heard and believed.

Let's be honest - coping with chronic illness or pain can turn your world upside down, especially when:

  • You're sick of being ignored or gaslighted by medical professionals

  • Your relationships with those closest to you are struggling because of your changing needs

  • You're grieving the life you thought you'd have

  • You feel caught between what your body needs and what your inner critic demands

  • You're tired of being told "but you don't look sick"

If you're feeling overwhelmed, you're not alone. And no, you're not lazy, you're not lying, and you are absolutely enough – regardless of what your inner critic or society might be telling you.

How we can work together

I'm Kirsty, a therapist who specialises in working with people living with chronic health conditions – but you're the specialist in you!

Together, we can help you cope with the impact of being chronically ill by:

  • Creating a space where you're truly heard, believed, and respected – no masking pain, no being a martyr, just being unapologetically yourself

  • Exploring your emotional and physical needs – so you can feel confident setting boundaries and showing up in relationships in ways that work for YOU

  • Quieting that harsh inner critic that says you're lazy, lying, or not enough

  • Building the confidence to advocate for yourself (medically, professionally, personally)

  • Finding ways to live a meaningful life on YOUR terms, with realistic compromises that honour your health challenges

I've helped clients navigate anxiety, depression, grief, medical trauma, body image issues, loneliness, and the complex emotions that come with chronic conditions. Different strokes for different folks – we'll figure out what works for YOU

My approach:

Professional but never stuffy

I'm not your typical therapist. Therapy with me isn't formal or prim – it's a space where you can laugh, cry, swear, and just be yourself. No "waffly therapy language" here!

I work integratively, drawing from different approaches to create something uniquely tailored to you. I talk like a normal person (no jargon!), I don't have a "phone voice," and yes, I do swear occasionally!

I'm not here to give you a piece of homework and tell you you'll feel better. I'm here to hold space for you to process your emotions, understand where your anxiety or low self-worth is coming from, and help you rebuild your relationship with yourself.

But What If You're Not Sure Therapy Is Right for You Right Now?

I get it if you're thinking:

  • "I barely have energy for daily tasks, let alone therapy sessions"

  • "Therapy can't make my illness go away, so what's the point?"

  • "I should be able to handle this on my own"

Here's what I want you to know: Your illness has taken enough from you physically – I can't make that go away, but your mental health doesn't have to suffer too.

Think of therapy as an investment in your emotional wellbeing – like putting money into your pension. Each session is a deposit into building a life where you're not held back by the emotional challenges of chronic illness.

That's why I offer:

  • Flexible scheduling that works around your energy levels

  • Virtual sessions to eliminate travel stress

  • A free 15-minute intro call to see if we're a good fit

Ready to Take a Step Toward Self-Compassion?

Let's work together to help you discover who you really are, what you really want from life, and build the confidence to go get it – regardless of your health challenges. Come for a chat, stay for a change.

  • How do I know if I need therapy for my Chronic Illness?
A common misconception about therapy is that you have to be in crises mode for it. You don't. Suffering is suffering and you don't need to justify your need for support. My clients come to me in all different states of being; some are really struggling to cope day-to-day, some are looking to work on personal development and some are just looking for somewhere to vent that is separate from their home life and loved ones. There is no right or wrong way to be, and if you feel that you need some support, then I am here for you.
  • What type of appointments do you offer?
I offer online appointments, using Google Meet, or telephone appointments if you prefer.
  • What times do you offer therapy sessions?
Sessions take place in the afternoon or evenings, this allows therapy to be flexible around your schedule.
  • How much does a session cost?
A session costs £65, including the initial session. All sessions must be paid for 48 hours in advance.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Sessions must be cancelled with more than 24 hours notice. Any sessions cancelled less than this is subject to payment of the full fee.
  • What if I'm feeling too unwell to come to a session?
I understand the unexpected nature of flare ups and so I will endeavour to help you to reschedule your session to when you are feeling better. I do appreciate as much notice as you can give me for this.
  • Do you work with children and young people?
No, unfortunately I do not. I only work with people aged 18+.
  • Can I work with you if I don't live in the UK?
I can work with clients across all of the UK & Ireland, and Europe. Unfortunately, I am unable to work with US or Canadian clients.
